CARTO AI Agents now integrated with Oracle Generative AI

The rise of AI is changing how organizations work with data— opening up new ways to explore insights and support better, faster decisions. In the State of Spatial Analytics 2026 report, spatial practitioners across industries point to a clear trend: the way we approach spatial analysis is evolving. Spatial analytics is moving beyond static maps and dashboards toward more automated workflows and agentic systems that can reason, act, and deliver insights at scale.

Last year, CARTO introduced a new suite of Agentic GIS capabilities to help make AI-driven spatial analysis accessible across the organization. Today, we’re excited to build on that momentum with Agentic GIS running natively on Oracle Generative AI.

This integration makes it easy for teams to build and run geospatial AI Agents using models available through OCI, while staying fully within their existing, governed Oracle Cloud environment.

What is Agentic GIS?

Agentic GIS is CARTO’s AI-native approach to geospatial analytics, designed to move beyond the limitations of traditional GIS systems. Rather than relying on complex tools or siloed expertise, Agentic GIS turns geospatial workflows into interactive, accessible experiences that scale across your organization.

Our vision for Agentic GIS is built on three core pillars:

  • Reach: AI Agents make advanced geospatial insights accessible to everyone by scaling the expertise of geospatial teams into automated workflows. These agents can plan and execute multi-step analyses, such as catchment modeling or spatial joins, based on high-level goals expressed in natural language by business stakeholders.
  • Velocity: Embedded AI Assistants accelerate the day-to-day work of GIS analysts, helping them generate spatial SQL, summarize datasets, and build maps and workflows faster— so teams can move from question to insight in record time.
  • Depth: Powered by geospatial foundation models trained on vast amounts of spatial data, Agentic GIS enables deeper understanding and discovery of spatial patterns that are difficult to uncover with traditional tools alone.

Agentic GIS, Now Powered by Oracle Generative AI

With our new Oracle Generative AI integration, you can power CARTO’s Agentic GIS using the large language models you already trust: fully governed and managed inside Oracle. No new environments to spin up. No data leaving your cloud.

And that’s just the beginning.

Through the CARTO MCP Server, you can expose your CARTO workflows as MCP tools and make them available to AI Agents running entirely within Oracle. In practice, this means you can scale geospatial expertise across your organization while staying inside your secure Oracle Cloud environment— bringing location intelligence to more teams, without adding complexity or risk.

The integration also unlocks some exciting possibilities with Oracle Agent Factory, Oracle’s no-code platform for building and deploying intelligent agents that runs natively on Oracle Autonomous AI Database. Using Agent Factory’s visual builder, teams can design agents that tap into geospatial workflows built in CARTO, exposed as MCP tools through the CARTO MCP Server, and run spatial analysis using simple, natural language prompts.

With Agent Factory running in your own tenancy and leveraging your existing Oracle AI Database infrastructure, organizations can deliver a powerful layer of location intelligence with enterprise-grade security and governance— all driven by intuitive conversational interactions that make advanced spatial analysis accessible to everyone across the organization.

In short, for joint Oracle and CARTO users, this native integration creates a powerful, unified workflow designed to help you achieve:

  • Powerful analysis with Generative AI: Run AI-powered geospatial analytics using Oracle Generative AI services you already rely on.
  • Strong governance and security: Your data never leaves Oracle. All workflows respect your existing access controls, governance policies, and security configurations.
  • Native Oracle performance: All spatial processing in CARTO is executed directly in Oracle, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and consistency.
  • Composable AI workflows: Expose spatial workflows as MCP Tools, enabling AI Agents to seamlessly connect to Oracle-hosted models via OCI in your existing environment.

As an Oracle Technology Partner, CARTO is built to run natively on Oracle — making it easier than ever to embed trusted GIS workflows into modern analytics and AI initiatives.
